Frequently Asked Questions

How do I run a scan?

Open your spreadsheet, go to the DownforSheets menu, and click "Run Full Scan." The add-on will analyze the active sheet and show results in a sidebar with your health score and any issues found.

What does the health score mean?

The health score starts at 100 and decreases based on issues found. Each issue deducts 3 points. Additional points are deducted based on the ratio of affected rows to total rows (up to 40 points). Header changes deduct 2 points each. A score of 80 or above is healthy, 50 to 79 needs attention, and below 50 is critical.

Will fixing issues break my data?

Before applying any fix, DownforSheets automatically creates a hidden backup of your sheet. You can find it by right-clicking any sheet tab and looking for sheets named with a "(Backup ...)" suffix. If something goes wrong, you can copy data back from the backup.

How do I enable auto monitoring?

Go to DownforSheets > Monitoring > Enable Auto Monitoring. This requires you to be the spreadsheet owner. Once enabled, the add-on scans on every edit (with a 30-second cooldown) and runs a full daily scan at 8 AM with an email report.

How do I uninstall DownforSheets?

In Google Sheets, go to Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons. Find DownforSheets and click the three-dot menu, then select "Remove." This revokes all permissions and stops all monitoring.
